So yesterday was our last day in Cheval Blanc and we used the day to drive around the local wine routes in Côtes du Rhône.  The first and last place we visited had some snobbish people working there so after a few tastes of the local wine we left.  But there was a guy in the middle that was extremely friendly at
Domaine De Mourchon and showed us all the details of how the wine was made and let us taste about 6 types.  It was well presented and we decided to buy a few bottles.  Later on we went back to the B&B rested for a short time and then walked to a local restaurant that was recommended by the owners of the B&B.  As we entered the restaurant we realized we were the only customers of the night and that the full attention of the Owner/Manager, Waitress, and chef.  In short this was a very high class place and we spent more than we wanted but we made the best of it and ordered the somewhat cheaper food. It was an experience but we laughed about skipping out and going to McDonalds throughout the meal.
When we got back to the B&B we were greeted with a fire in the patio area and candles lit all around the patio area.  It was awesome because they also had a corkscrew out and clean glasses...  We used both to our advantage. :)  It was a great ending to our stay...

Today we drove toward Nice and went drove though Luberon (famous for its fields of lavender) and visited one of the hilltop towns called Rousillon.  Then we headed south to the ocean and ate at a seaside village called Cassis.  As we left we drove along the very high cliffs and pulled over a few times to look at the height and views from the cliffs.  It was amazing.  After that we drove some more, departed ways with Chris and Autumn.  It was about that time we checked our email and found out that we didn’t have a room for the rest of the trip due to some confusion.  We stopped at a local McDonalds for some free Wi-Fi and some Beer (ok it was just for me) and found a new place to stay.  The new place we are at now is very nice and almost half the price.  Thanks to Rick Steve’s book!  So anyways that’s it for now...  Sorry this is so long...

  2. What lovely photos! Quite a beautiful landscape, though I suppose besmirched by the presence of French people. Ha ha ... I kid, of course. J'adore les francais. Ils sont tous gentilles. (Well, that's a fib, too.) Unfortunate about the snobs. I mean, it's rotten grapes, people. So elementary a concept it was discovered almost immediately after the advent of agriculture, when humans still wore loin cloths and thought toe nail fungus caused it to rain. Get a grip. Anyhoo, Victoria, I actually cackled to myself as I composed my brilliant dissertation on Roman theaters and aqueducts yesterday, for I knew you would find it tedious (though if the same were written in your trusty guide book, you would devour it.) Also, I tried to give Mother the address to this here blog over the phone the other day, but it turned into a spectacular ordeal, and I had to give up for fear that I would hurl my phone across the room in frustration. ("How do you spell that again? ... Slow down, you talk too fast ... Lizard went where? ... Wait, say it again; my pen wasn't working ..." Aaaaagh!!!) I'll tell her you said hello.

  9. We managed to escape! It turns out that the prison guard is a Rick Steves fan too! Consequently, I promised him that upon leaving the prison grounds, I would purchase a scarf to wrap my neck with & vowed never to pee off a waterfall again! So we jumped into our ever-faithful, humble, blue Panda & bid to Europe "Auf Wiedersehen", "Au revoir", & "Arrivederci"! "Keep on travelling!" (In the lispy voice of Rick Steves)
